Requirements:

1. First back up your important data's such as SMS, Contacts, Call logs, Images APN Settings and etc.

2. Now enable USB Debugging mode in your Device, do this by going to settings>applications>development>USB debugging

3. The battery life of your device should not be less than 60%. to finish the update without turning your device off.

4. Disable or unistall all security suites/antivirus which may interrupt the process of rooting.

5. Also note the current firmware version which you can see by going to settings>aboutdevice> firmware version. This is to unroot you can apply the same update again thouh rooting won't change the firmware version.

Now the step by step guide/procedure on how to root galaxy note 10.1

1. First you have to turn your device Galaxy Note 10.1 off to enter download mode.

2. Now to enter download mode you must press volume down + power button for about 10 to 15 seconds.

3. Upon seeing warning screen now press the volume up to enter the device to download mode.

4. Connect your device to your computer using original USB cable

5. Then download odin here

6. Also download the below appropriate rooting package.

Download UEALGB GT-N8013 Firmware with Root injected (Mirror)
Download XWALG7 Stock Saudi Arabian- United Emirates Firmware with Root injected 

7. After you have downloaded the above files and extracted, open Odin in your desktop computer/laptop and connect your Device galaxy note 10.1 using original USB.

8. Click PDA button in odin then select the tar file you got from the firmware root package.

9. Once selected it will take 4-5 minutes to apply the update. Also once the firmware is applied it will take again 4-5 min to boot up the device because of first boot.

10. Check on whether the device is rooted or not using Root Checker app from google play store.
